Frequently Asked Questions

What causes wrinkles?
Wrinkles in the face are caused by excessive muscle movement. Initially these are present as fine lines but as we age these lines become more prominent and deeper. As you grow older your skin becomes less elastic due to the loss of collagen and reduced vascularisation of tissues. Wrinkles occur when certain muscles become more dominant and the skin does not have the ability to be as elastic in response to these muscle contractions. In addition, muscles become constrictive and naturally form creases and wrinkles. Dynamic wrinkles can be eliminated or lessened by relaxing the dominant muscle and this can be achieved by using the anti-wrinkle injections.

What are anti-wrinkle injections?
Anti-wrinkle injections have been used for decades to treat facial wrinkles. Anti-wrinkle injections are a simple, non-surgical treatment able to temporarily improve the appearance of moderate to severe wrinkles.
Anti-wrinkle injections are composed of a natural, purified protein. It is a naturally derived product used to reduce unwanted muscle activity. It has been used for medical purposes for more than 25 years and is considered safe and effective when properly used. It is great in reducing wrinkles in all ages. Anti-wrinkle injections are safe drugs that have a long history of use. You will see the rejuvenating effects and visible reduction of wrinkles and be happy with a younger looking you.

How long does the anti-wrinkle treatment last?
Depending upon your own metabolism and receiving regular treatments it can last for 3-4 months. Studies have shown that anti-wrinkle injections are more effective and last longer when given at regular intervals of 3-4 months due to progressive weakening of the muscles treated. If the treatment is ceased, your muscle returns to its previous state and does not become worse.

.How do the anti-wrinkle injections work and how is it done?
Anti-wrinkle injections relax muscle by inhibiting the secretion of acetylcholine needed for muscle contraction. By stopping the transmission of this neurotransmitter from nerve to muscle, it stops the targeted muscle from contracting and forming wrinkles. The strategic relaxation of certain facial muscles leads to decreased wrinkling of the overlying skin.
Treatment is simple. It takes just ten minutes and involves few tiny injections in the treated area. The needles used are very fine and treatment is generally well tolerated.
The effects of anti-wrinkle injections may be noticed within 2-3 days but it may take upto 2-3 weeks for the full effect.

Is there any discomfort with treatment?
There is usually mild discomfort at the injection sites. This only lasts for a few seconds. If you are very sensitive to pain inform our clinicians because we can use ice or numbing cream on the area prior to the procedure.

Can I have these injections in my lunch break?
You most definitely can have these procedures in your lunch break because you can resume your normal activities after the treatment. Any small red spots usually disappear within 20-30 minutes. Sometimes you can have some bruising, which can be easily concealed with some make-up. You just have to avoid putting any pressure, or touching the treated area for 4 hours. Also avoid any exercise and lying down for next 4 hours. For the first 24 hours after the treatment avoid any strenuous physical activity, also not to have any chemical peels or use of active ingredients on the treatments area for first 24 hours after anti-wrinkle injections. If you have any specific query ask your treating professional.

How much does it cost?
Cost can vary as it depends on the amount of anti-wrinkle injection used. The amount of anti-wrinkle administered depends on age, gender, treatment area, muscle strength and degree of wrinkling. Our medical professionals will assess you at the time of consultation and be able to advise you of the exact cost, as each persons requirements are different. There is a rough pricing guide under our treatment areas section. But again this varies from person to person.
