  • Book a consultation to discuss your symptoms with our specialist GPs.

  • Take our hormone quiz to assess whether you might be experiencing hormonal changes related to perimenopause or menopause.

Understanding Perimenopause and Menopause

Perimenopause is the transition period before menopause when hormone levels fluctuate and begin to decline. Menopause is reached when menstrual cycles have stopped for 12 consecutive months. During these stages, estrogen and progesterone levels drop, leading to a variety of physical and emotional changes.

Common causes include natural aging, lifestyle factors, stress and certain medical conditions. While these transitions are normal, you don’t have to suffer through uncomfortable symptoms without support.

Signs and Symptoms

Perimenopause and menopause can manifest in many ways. Every woman experiences changes differently, but common signs include:

  • Hot flashes and night sweats

  • Irregular or heavy periods that gradually taper off

  • Mood swings, irritability, anxiety or depression

  • Weight gain, particularly around the abdomen, and difficulty losing weight

  • Fatigue and persistent low energy

  • Brain fog and trouble concentrating

  • Low libido and vaginal dryness

  • Difficulty sleeping or frequent waking

  • Thinning hair or hair loss

If you identify with several of these symptoms, it may be time to speak with a healthcare provider about hormone evaluation and treatment options.
